Short summary

Morten Gildberg was born in Odense, Denmark, the hometown of the world-famous story-teller and fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. He made his professional debut as a composer in 2004 with a through-composed musical in two acts based on Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales.

Morten specializes in composition of original music to picture, spoken word and theatre - music that helps bring the story to life, and adds emotion, color and magic.

Throughout the years Morten's music has found its way to many different television, radio- and film productions in Norway, Lithuania, Australia, United States, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Finland, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands, Romania, Denmark, Sweden and Estonia.

Education

Morten holds a B.A. in Musicology and Applied Dramaturgy from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and an M.A. in Composition of Music for Film & Television from the University of Bristol, UK.

From 2007-2009, Morten studied orchestration and composition under the Danish composer Bo Gunge in Aarhus, Denmark. Additional short intensive courses include Orchestration (instructed by Søren Hyldgaard and Rasmus Hansen, 2009) and Film Scoring 1+2 (instructed by Hummie Mann, 2008).
